Skip Rope not Breakfast

We have all heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and yet we still continue to skip it. Some skip breakfast in order to lose weight, while others feel as if they are not able to make the time to sit down for a meal in the mornings. The reality is that you are doing yourself a huge disservice by skipping breakfast.

Why is breakfast so important?

One of the main reasons why eating breakfast is so important is because it gives your metabolism a huge boost first thing in the morning. If you are trying to lose weight then you will need this boost to help you burn more calories throughout the day. Another reason is that according to webmd.com, those who skip breakfast end up making poor food choices later in the day. Finally, eating a healthy breakfast plays an important role in helping you stay sharp and focused.

Breakfast on the Go

As stated earlier, one reason that many people skip breakfast is because they feel there is no time to sit down for a meal in the morning. While this may be true, this is still not a reason for you to skip this important meal. Since breakfast is so important, I want to give you a few healthy ideas for breakfasts on the go. These are just a few breakfasts that you can make and eat on your way out the door, instead of stopping and grabbing a fast food sandwich on the way to work.

  1. Protein shakes are an excellent way to start your day.  Get the nutrients your body needs each morning without having to spend time cooking or siting down to a meal.
  2. Fruit smoothies are a very healthy breakfast that you can quickly make fresh each morning, pour in a glass and enjoy on the way to work.
  3. Keep hard boiled eggs in the fridge during those extremely hectic mornings. Grab a piece of fruit with your eggs, and then breakfast is ready.
  4. Muffins are a great healthy breakfast that you can make on the weekend and keep in the fridge. You do need to remember that not all muffins are healthy and homemade muffins are best. Examples of healthy muffins are blueberry oatmeal muffins, cherry wheat germ muffins or even whole grain blackberry spice muffins. Grab your breakfast and head out the door.

There are so many ways for you to fit a healthy breakfast into your morning routine without having to worry about cooking, sitting down to a meal or cleaning up. Keep all of your items ready to grab and go each morning and never miss breakfast again.

According to USD.gov, as many as 25% of people are missing breakfast each morning but you no longer have to be one of those people. By including the above grab and go breakfast options, you can change your health, lose weight and feel better just by ensuring that you are eating a healthy breakfast each morning.
