Round Robin Format:
Every division, kids and adults will NOT follow the traditional tournament format, instead the round robin format will be used. This is to ensure the most matches possible, win or lose. The champion in each division will be the competitor with the most wins. Every competitor will face each competitor in their division, with the exception of teammates (as an option). You will have more matches than usual, train accordingly. In the event there is a tie in number of wins the champion will be the one with the most submissions. If the submission count is a tie then the champion is the one who scored a faster submission.
PLEASE NOTE: If competing against teammate(s) is forgone then numerically your chances of winning could be decreased.
PLEASE NOTE Adult Divisions: The number of competitors in each division must be capped at a certain point to bar too many matches and/or injuries. Example: If there are 10 competitors in your division, you will have 9 matches! Be prepared! Train accordingly!
Youth/Teen Divisions will follow current IBJJF Rules with one exception: NO ADVANTAGES will be scored. Match times will be four minutes.
Adult Male and Female Gi Divisions will follow current IBJJF Rules with one exception: NO ADVANTAGES will be scored. Match times will be six minutes. Advanced belt Semi Finals and Finals matches will use two mat-side referees in addition to the main referee. Match times will be six minutes. In the event of a tie the referee(s) will award a winner based on the grappler who demonstrated more control, aggression and submission attempts.
Adult Male and Female Nogi Divisions will follow a no-holds-barred format. NO ADVANTAGES. All submissions legal. Slams legal to escape submissions. Points are awarded for a three second hold of a position: Takedown 2pts. Sweep 2pts. Guard Pass 3pts. Mount/Back 4pts. Semi Finals and Finals matches will use two mat-side referees in addition to the main referee. Match times will be six minutes. In the event of a tie the referee(s) will award a winner based on the grappler who demonstrated more control, aggression and submission attempts.
Professional Show Super-Fights will be Submission Only, no points. If there is not a submission by the end of regulation time the three mat-side judges will award a winner based on the grappler who demonstrated more control, aggression and submission attempts.
